10 Gal Hat
Im not sure how happy I am with this one but I haven't updated in a while so I figured Id throw it on here. This is a character idea i've had for a while. Still not sure where its going. This version kinda has a sci-fy look too it. If something develops ill let ya know. for now its squat.

Drink & Draw at Comic Book Jones
Hey, So every month on Sunday, myself and my friend the talented Lauren Monardo run a Drink and Draw at Comic Book Jones in Staten Island. My favorite comic book store by far. We drink we draw we listen to good tunes, joke around and most importantly make good friends with other talented folks. So next time your around check it out its always a good time. Here are a few pics of work I did this past Sunday. The suggested theme was Dapper Monsters which I just loved. Can't wait till next month.

The Dark Past
Usually I don't draw super heroes, I'm more of a villain guy but Batman has always been a favorite of mine. He has a very dark past and because of it he really has a fine line between moral and revenge. Ive tried to stay away from drawing super heroes in the past because I never felt that I could do them any better than the DC artists, but recently Ive really enjoyed other artists versions of certain characters. I like seeing them outside of the normal traditional standard. Here is my version of Batman mourning his parents and a flash back of the moment. Enjoy.

ADHD?
Greetings to all. Turns out that through a test my gf gave me I would undoubtably be diagnosed with ADHD. I kinda knew that all along, she did too. we did the test while I was working on this piece I was distracted and had to ask her to repeat a few questions HAHa. It was also brought to my attention that I sign my posts and my work differently each time. Now I can just say its my ADHD. This home diagnosis is really going to help me out.
Adios from......................wait what was I saying?

He who shall not be named
I will Admit I am a huge Harry Potter fan. Not as much fun and imagination has come from an author since Peter Pan and I cant get enough of either. I think He who shall not be named is one of the greatest villains. He reminds me of Mummra and the Grim reaper and a slew of other bad things. I decided to draw him in all his glory summoning the dark mark and setting loose Nagimi.

All Walks Of Life
My lovely GF has been on top of me keeping up my posts lately so I should thank her that this is up. This is what I think an 1800's version of those creepy people in the city, who carry around snakes would have looked like. Usually they have no shirts on though, where this chap is very well dressed. Getting back into photoshop grabbing tips everywhere I go. Keep checking the post to see me progress.

Sir Smokes A Lot
This is one of those drawings I always seem to come back to. I am always playing with different styles and influences and this one just really has something I think is worth exploring again. I like all the patterns and textures and warmth. Done in Molskine with chartpak and a RSVP pen and some color pencils. I'll post others I've done that are similar to it soon.
Cheers, JJR

King of Everything
When I was a kid I thought I was King of everything, And who was going to tell me I wasn't. You put on that paper crown and you prance around waving your Grandfather's cane telling the dog to bow to the king. Man have I lost a lot of power since then. Or maybe not...

Dressed Fresh to Death
My idea for this one was that if a skeleton were to be reanimated it would have to be moved by another living thing, like a plant. Of course he would look quite dapper too, cause thats how we do.
IGNITE & KABOOM
Here are some characters I came up with, Kid Kaboom & Lady Ignite. I see them as a young modern Bonny and Clyde, together till death which they welcome and laugh at.
The Working Dead
Here is a quick drawing I did recently. I decided to add some photoshop. I haven't used photoshop in a few months and definitely feel rusty. A lot of the artists I have been inspired by lately (Jim Mahfood, Ted Mckeever, Skottie Young) don't use much Photoshop so I have been kind of working on my ink skills to feel like I measure up. I wear a shirt and tie to work every day but I like dressing up, I wish I lived in the 20s when layers and accessories were part of everyday wear. I feel bad for those who feel trapped in work attire. I say, take the opportunity to look sharp not sad.
